Biographies of Hanan Ashrawi

Dr. Hanan Ashrawi is a distinguished Palestinian leader, legislator, activist, and scholar who served as a member of the Leadership Committee and as an official spokesperson of the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace process. Making history as the first woman to hold a seat in the highest executive body in Palestine, she was elected as member of the Executive Committee of the PLO in 2009 and 2018. As a civil society activist, she founded the Independent Commission for Human Rights, MIFTAH and AMAN. She serves on the advisory and international boards of several global, regional and local organizations, and she is the recipient of global awards and several academic accolades.

الدكتورة حنان عشراوي هي شخصية وطنية وسياسية فلسطينية رائدة. شاركت في الوفد الفلسطيني لعملية السلام، وكانت المتحدثة الرسمية باسم الوفد ما بين 1991-1993. انتخبت عام 1996 عضواً في المجلس التشريعي الفلسطيني عن مدينة القدس، وأعيد انتخابها لدورة أخرى في العام 2006. تشغل حالياً عضو اللجنة التنفيذية لمنظمة التحرير الفلسطينية منذ عام 2009، كأول امرأة فلسطينية تشغل أعلى منصب سياسي، وأعيد انتخابها في العام 2018. أسهمت بشكل فاعل في تأسيس العديد من مؤسسات المجتمع المدني منها مفتاح، أمان، والهيئة المستقلة لحقوق الإنسان. تشغل عضوية العديد من مجالس الأمناء، والمجالس الإدارية للمؤسسات المحلية والإقليمية والدولية المختلفة، ونالت العديد من الأوسمة والجوائز العالمية والعربية.
