Saadallah Wannous (Arabic: سعد الله ونوس) (1941 – 15 May 1997) was a Syrian playwright. He was born in the village of Hussein al-Bahr, near Tartous, where he received his early education. He studied journalism in Cairo, Egypt and later served as editor of the art and cultural sections of the Syrian paper Al-Baath and the Lebanese As-Safir. He also held for many years the directorship in the Music and Theater Administration of Syria. In the late Sixties, he traveled to Paris where he studied theater and encountered various currents, trends, and schools of European stage. His career as a playwright had begun in the early Sixties with several short (one-act) plays which were characterized by a display of his fundamental theme: the relationship between the individual and society and its authorities.

سعد الله ونّوس (27 مارس 1941 - 15 مايو 1997)، مسرحي سوري، من مواليد قرية حصين البحر الساحلية القريبة من مدينة طرطوس. كتبت في أعماله العديد من الدراسات والأبحاث، كما عقد حول أدبه غير مؤتمر وندوة ولقاء. السيرة الشخصية درس ونوس الشهادة الابتدائية في مدرسة القرية، ثم تابع الدراسة في ثانوية طرطوس حتى البكالوريا، وفي فترة مبكرة بدأ يقرأ ما تيسر له من الكتب والروايات، وكان أول كتاب اقتناه وعمره 12 سنة هو (دمعة وابتسامة) لجبران خليل جبران، ثم نمت مجموعة كتبه وتنوعت (طه حسين وعباس محمود العقاد وميخائي...

سعد الله ونوس ، (1941-1997) مسرحي سوري . ولد في قرية حصين البحر القريبة من طرطوس . تلقى تعليمه في مدارس اللاذقية. درس الصحافة في القاهرة (مصر)، وعمل محرراً للصفحات الثقافية في صحيفتي السفير اللبنانية والثورة السورية. كما عمل مديراً للهيئة العامة للمسرح والموسيقى في سوريا. في أواخر الستينات، سافر إلى باريس ليدرس فن المسرح. مسرحياته كانت تتناول دوما نقدا سياسيا اجتماعيا للواقع العربي بعد صدمة المثقفين إثر هزيمة1967 ، في أواخر السبعينات، ساهم ونوس في إنشاء المعهد العالي للفنون المسرحية بدمشق، وعمل مدرساً فيه. كما أصدر مجلة حياة المسرح، وعمل رئيساً لتحريرها. في أعقاب الغزو الإسرائيلي للبنان وحصار بيروت عام 1982، غاب ونوس عن الواجهة، وتوقف عن الكتابة لعقد من الزمن. عاد إلى الكتابة في أوائل التسعينات. في 15 أيار (مايو) 1997، توفي ونوس بعد صراع طويل استمر خمس سنوات مع مرض السرطان.
