Hassan Daoud is a Lebanese novelist and journalist, born in Beirut in 1950. As a journalist, he has worked on various Lebanese newspapers including al-Safeer and al-Hayat and he currently manages the Nawafez supplement of al-Mustaqbal newspaper. He has also published two short story collections – Under Angie's Balcony and The Angel's Holiday – and is the author of several novels, some of which have been translated into English, French, German and Italian. English editions of his novels include: The House of Mathilde, published by Granta Books in 1999; The Year of the Revolutionary New Bread-Making Machine, published by Saqi Books in 2007 and, most recently, Borrowed Time, which was published by Telegram Books in 2009.

حسن داود روائي لبناني ولد في بيروت عام 1950. عمل صحافياً في عدّة صحف لبنانية، منها "السفير" و"الحياة" وحالياً يدير ملحق "النوافذ" لجريدة "المستقبل". أصدر مجموعتين من القصص القصيرة، " تحت شرفة أنجي" و"عطلة الملاك" وله روايات عديدة منها ما تُرجم إلى الانكليزية والفرنسية والألمانية والإيطالية. من رواياته التي تُرجمت إلى الانكليزية " بيت ماتيلد "والتي نُشرت عن دار "كرانتا" عام 1999؛ " سنة أختراع ماكنة صناعة الخبزالجديدة " عن الساقي عام 2007 وأخيراً " الوقت المقترض " صدرت عن دار "تليكرام" في بداية هذه السنة.
