Kamal Boullata (1942 − August 6, 2019)[1] was a Palestinian artist and art historian. His works were primarily done in acrylic. His work was abstract in style, focusing on the ideas of division in Palestinian identity, separation from homeland. He expressed these ideas through geometric forms as well as through the integration of Arabic words and calligraphy.

Kamal Boullata was a Palestinian painter and writer. Public collections holding his art include the British Museum, London, the Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris and the New York Public Library. His writings on Arab and Palestinian art have appeared in exhibition catalogues, anthologies and periodicals including the Journal of Palestine Studies and the Encyclopedia of the Palestinians. He is the author of Palestinian Art: From 1850 to Present, Recovery of Place: A Study of Contemporary Palestinian Art (in Arabic) and the editor of Belonging and Globalisation: Critical Essays on Contemporary Art and Culture.

كمال بُلّاطة فنان تشكيلي فلسطيني (مواليد القدس عام 1942-2019). تعلم الرسم والتصوير في مرسم خليل حلبي، الفنان الأيقوني المقدسي، في حي باب الخليل في القدس. رسم بورتريهات وحارات وعمران القدس في مرحلته الأولى. صحيح أنّ كمال بلاّطة اشتهر بالحروفية التشكيلية لاحقاً، إلاّ أنه شوهد له صوراً للوحات انطباعية، تعبيرية له، نشرتها مجلة الأفق الجديد الأدبية عام 1961 في القدس، ثمّ لاحقاً أصبح يقدّس المربّع إلى درجة الأسطرة.درس في أكاديمية الفنون الجميلة – روما (1960– 1965). تابع دراساته لاحقاً في واشنطن (1968–1971) في كلية كوركوران لمتحف الفنون الجميلة. عاش في الولايات المتحدة وفرنسا والمغرب ولبنان. حصل على منحة تفرغ لدراسة الفن الإسلامي بالمغرب من مؤسسة فولبرايت (1993 و1994). أقام عدة معارض شخصية في القدس وعمّان وأبو ظبي والمنامة وبغداد والرباط وباريس وموسكو...
