<p>In 1969, Dr. Abdel-Wahab Al-Kayyali launched his intellectual cultural project by establishing a publishing house in Beirut bearing the name of the Arab Institute for Research &amp; Publishing. Since the first launch, the house has published intellectual works committed to the issues of the Arab nation, especially the central issue, Palestine. The book The Modern History of Palestine was the first publication of the house, and this book, which was based on the doctoral thesis of the founder of the house, had a special impact in the Arab intellectual and political circles. The house started with simple individual financial capabilities, and despite the founder's many political preoccupations, he was able to cross the house into the publishing world with quick and confident steps. The atmosphere of openness and democracy available in Beirut helped in attracting Arab writers and thinkers from all Arab countries, we mention the late Dr. Ihsan Abbas, Wedad Al-Qadi, Nawal Al-Saadawi, Abdul Rahman Munif, Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, Munif Al-Razzaz, Anis Sayegh and others. During a period not exceeding 10 years of its life, the Foundation opened branches in Cairo, Baghdad and London. In addition to the clear interest in the content, the house paid special attention to the general appearance of its publications as well. A group of senior Arab artists and designers supervised its publications, including the late Mahmoud Kamil, the artists Helmy Al-Tuni, Munir Al-Shaarani and Zuhair Abu Shayeb, and their publications won many awards in Arab book fairs. The house was considered a pioneer in the trend towards publishing encyclopedias in various political, military, philosophical and other fields, and the difficult circumstances and the outbreak of the devastating Lebanese civil war did not prevent it from continuing its mission in the publishing world. In addition to books, the institution issued intellectual and political magazines and publications, such as "Arab Issues" and "Strategic Bulletin". In 1981, the founder of the house was assassinated in his office in Beirut, and this was a great loss for the house's career. Nevertheless, the procession continued, and here is the house, and after a quarter of a century after the assassination of its founder, it continued with determination. In recent years, the publications of the house reached 150 titles annually, and it still attracts great Arab creators and writers and participates in Arab book fairs directly. The institution is proud to publish the works of Abdul Rahman Munif, Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, Muhammad Jaber Al-Ansari, Ghazi Al-Qusaibi, Ibrahim Nasrallah, Mu’nis Al-Razzaz, Abdul Rahman Badawi, Abdul-Wahhab Al-Bayati, Ibrahim Al-Koni and many other emerging talents and figures in Arab literary and cultural circles, in addition to the establishment of The Foundation translates and publishes many foreign literary, political and scientific works and children's books.
